AIR LIBYA is the first private Aviation Company in Libya. It was founded in 1996 under the name of "Tibesti Aviation' with 6 aircraft Cessna 188AG-Truck, two Zlin-137 and one Cessna 185F aiming particularly for general aviation. After two years another two Cessna - C402C and C421C joined the fleet. In the year of 2000 one aircraft YAK-40 started passenger operations, the Company was named "Tibesti AIR LIBYA" and next year another four YAK-40 aircraft were included in the Company AOC.

In 2009 AIR LIBYA has a fleet of:

BOEING B727-200 and B737-200,

BAe146-300,

2 X DHC-8, DHC-6 and PC-6 B2/H4

AIR LIBYA with its headquarters in Benghazi is a rapidly developing as well known provider of fixed wing air support for various types of organizations (mostly Libyan Oil Companies) in Africa and the Middle East. Throughout AIR Libya’s thirteen-year history, a noticeable progresses have been witnessed in its air services until it became a powerful entity growing in vast leaps and building customer loyalty owing it  to its sensational performance. Hence, national and international services request have been increasingly on great demand, making it a potential participant among competitors on the aviation market in Libya.

 AIR LIBYA truly represents the success and development in the field of aviation in general and in serving the Libyan Petroleum Sector in particular in the light of the strong competition between international and national aviation companies.

The Company staff grew from (12) to the current one hundred and forty five (145) in a short space of time.  With the impending signing of further fixed wing contracts, the staff is set to grow further.

Esteemed organizations to which AIR LIBYA is a recognized service provider in air operations include:  

·         ARAB GULF OIL COMPANY (AGOCO), WAHA OIL COMPANY, ADWOC, PETRO-CANADA, REPSOL (ACACUS) and GASPROM of Russia

In addition to the main base of operation at Benina International Airport, AIR LIBYA has seven (7) bases currently active:

·         Tripoli Intl Airport

·         Ubari Airport

·         Mitiga Intl Airport

·         Kufrah Intl Airport

·         Tobruk

 A further base is currently being established in El Fasher, Sudan and a Marketing and Logistics base - in Alexandria Intl Airport, Egypt

 AIR LIBYA has the infrastructure and experience to provide non-scheduled international air transport operations beyond its existing areas of operation. The flagship of this small yet proud organization is the dedicated personnel both at managerial and professional operational level.
